Mr. Kerry, We Are at War

Secretary of State John Kerry can’t seem to make up his mind about whether we are “at war” with the Islamic State. Last week he said we weren’t. This weekend he said we are.

This performance is of a piece with the self-absorption and narcissism that has long characterized the Obama administration. For example, Mr. Obama has famously declared the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have ended.

The trouble is that in all these cases, Team Obama is neglecting the fact that our enemies get a vote. And they haven’t quit.

Indeed, one thing is certain: The Islamic State and the rest of the global jihad are at war with us. And they will remain so, pursuant to their shariah doctrine, unless or until we submit, convert to Islam or die.
