Don’t Count on Putin to Cease Fire in Ukraine

Color me skeptical. We are told that four nations have just reached an agreement to effect a new cease-fire in the war Russia is now overtly waging against Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin and his German, French and Ukrainian counterparts have reportedly agreed to stop the fighting, pull back heavy weapons and recognize Ukrainian sovereignty over the territory the Russians and their proxies have been trying to wrest from Ukraine – as they previously did Crimea.

I am not holding my breath on this deal actually taking hold as long as Putin runs the Kremlin. He is a serial violator of agreements, a ruthless aggressor and past-master of the use of surrogates to do what he promises not to do himself. Vladimir Putin is not a man with whom freedom’s friends can do business.
