Judge Watson, Not President Trump, is ‘Constitutionally Incorrect’

Federal Judge Derrick Watson doubled down yesterday, extending his stay on the implementation of President Trump’s revised immigration pause order that Hawaii’s attorney general calls “constitutionally incorrect.”

In fact, it is Judge Watson who is wrong about the president’s authority pursuant to the U.S. Constitution and statutes. Like his predecessors, Mr. Trump clearly can prevent the entry into the United States of individuals he deems, for whatever reason, to be inadmissible. That would include permanently barring Sharia-adherent Muslims who seek – whether through violent means or others – to impose their totalitarian doctrine on this country.

Of course, Mr. Trump has not done that with either version of his immigration pause executive order. But it is the jurist, not the President, who is constitutionally incorrect in arguing that our Chief Executive cannot act in such a manner to protect this Republic and its people.
