Joint Forces counterpropaganda

In this article, authors Christian Cali and Retired U.S. Army Col. Marc Romanych discuss the much-neglected but strategically important role of counterpropaganda in information operations.

They argue that military counterpropaganda needs to be lifted out of its passive role of identifying and exposing enemy propaganda and influence and be targetted towards neutralizing enemy messages before they even emerge.

This forward-leaning approach will allow U.S. warfighters to shape the information battlespace in a way the enhances the effectivenes of their own positive messase campaigns as well as their traditional military and/or counterinsurgency operations.
