No to Brennan

President Obama wants John Brennan to run the Central Intelligence Agency.  But, as Congressman Trent Franks put it recently, Brennan should not be allowed near the CIA, let alone be put in charge of it, because he doesn’t understand the danger posed by self-described jihadists.

Notably, in May 2010, John Brennan insisted that “Jihad is a holy struggle, a legitimate tenet of Islam, meaning to purify oneself or one’s community.”  Islamists – or their apologists – say such things  in order to confuse us or get us to lower our guard.

It’s simply not true.  Jihad is holy war. Period. And to entrust the CIA to someone who gets this fundamental issue so wrong is to invite our destruction at the hands of enemies that have no illusion about their duty to destroy us.
