Rick Manning was a guest on Secure Freedom Radio with Frank Gaffney yesterday. Manning is the president of Americans for Limited Government.

Gaffney asked Manning to comment on the importance of our sovereignty and how it relates to our freedoms as Americans. Manning responded:

“Sovereignty is the essence of what makes America America, without our constitutional freedom, without our individual rights guaranteed therein, you end up lost at sea in terms of any anchors or moorings for decisions in terms of what government should be. What’s more, you lose all the value of actually having elected representatives… We see continually, U.S. hegemony over various areas that’s in our constitutional makeup we developed being taken away, being shifted away and being traded away by the Obama administration, all with the goal of lessening America’s role in the world.”

Manning then went on to explain how American freedoms can be diminished when our decisions are tied to other countries which don’t have the same pluralistic government we have.

“That is ultimately going to be, of all the things President Obama has done,  I believe that’s going to be the legacy that he’s going to leave that’s the most damaging to our country.”

This led Gaffney to ask Manning about the Trans-Pacific Partnership and how it relates to sovereignty. Manning explained that the TPP is an agreement between America and twelve other nations, Japan, Chile, Canada and Malaysia to name a few, which don’t share our system of governance.

“And what the TPP does, is it sets up the economic rules for the world in one massive agreement that covers every aspect of our economy with the exception of the service sector… Every aspect of the world’s economy is being rewritten through this Trans-Pacific Partnership and it’s being governed by a twelve member board, oversight board that consists of one vote per country. Now every country can veto anything but for all intents and purposes, the Sultan of Brunei has the same power on this board as the president of the United States… it’s set up by design to limit our sovereignty.”

It even turns out that China can opt into the agreement through approval of the twelve member board with no input from congress, even though China’s exclusion was used as a selling point.

Like all things with this administration, the American people are told one thing while the reality is a far different situation.
