Britain has voted for freedom! The implications are likely to be profound because British voters have not only given themselves renewed control over their own destiny. They may inspire a reawakening of the desire for sovereign, liberty-loving and accountable governments on both sides of the Atlantic.

The European Union will now have to begin rolling back its supranational state, characterized by imperious insistence on unchecked immigration, strangling economic regulation and unfree speech codes. Should the EU refuse such changes, more member nations will likely follow Britain’s lead.

America may follow Britain’s lead again this November. In 1979, British voters made Margaret Thatcher their Prime Minister with a mandate for small government, liberty and peace through strength. A year later, their American counterparts did the same with Ronald Reagan, renewing the Anglo-American “special relationship” and ultimately “fundamentally transforming” their world.
