Today, a man at the center of a disaster appears before the Senate Judiciary Committee. The extent of that long-running disaster became clear on Tuesday, when the panel’s oversight subcommittee provided the first serious examination of its nature and implications since 9/11.

Presumably, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson will try to dissemble or deflect attention from the evidence Sen. Ted Cruz uncovered earlier this week: Johnson’s department – and the Pentagon, the FBI, the intelligence community, the State Department and the White House, itself – have been pursuing policies dictated by the Muslim Brotherhood and other sharia-supremacists. This disastrous mistake is leaving us unacceptably and dangerously vulnerable to jihadist attacks and subversion.

Senators must hold Secretary Johnson accountable and redouble their oversight efforts by doing a far-broader damage assessment, if necessary by subpoenaing witnesses who will otherwise be punished for revealing its full magnitude.
