Faithless Electors and the “Purple Revolutionaries”

Today, what its perpetrators hope to brand “the Purple Revolution” will move from their concerted, weeks-long effort to undermine Donald Trump’s incipient presidency to preventing it outright. Their hope is to secure enough defections from so-called “faithless electors” to prevent a Trump victory in the Electoral College.

That seems unlikely to happen. But when it doesn’t, expect those on the hard left and their assorted allies – the Black Lives Matter crowd, the Islamists and many in the press – to ratchet up their campaign to subvert the Trump administration.

Take, for example, their sudden, highly selective concern about Vladimir Putin’s aggressiveness. Mr. Trump’s critics vehemently denounce the Kremlin despot for allegedly cyber-helping elect our next president, but not Putin’s ominous nuclear build-up and threats.

President Obama wore purple at his end-of-year press conference. Look for him to “community organize” its revolution in 2017.
