Information warfare is arguably the most critical battlefield in a 21st Century wracked with a War of Ideas.  Unfortunately, the United States has largely unilaterally disarmed in this form of warfare, while our actual or potential enemies have become increasingly capable and aggressive in employing it against us.

Fortunately, Bill Gertz – a best-selling author and one of the most accomplished national security reporters of our time – has just raised an alarm about this dangerous asymmetry in a powerful new book: iWar: War and Peace in the Information Age.

It is hard to imagine a more timely warning: Russia’s alleged cyber-hacking and influence operations – and President Obama’s belated response to them – will be among the top agenda items for the incoming Trump administration.  Bill Gertz’s iWar will be a helpful guide to establishing new, more sensible U.S. information warfare capabilities and policies.
