Is Petraeus ‘Unfit to Serve’ as a Presidential Advisor

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Democratic partisans’ latest line of attack on Donald Trump is that he is “unfit to serve” as president. They contend that, as such, he must be removed from office, pursuant to the Constitution’s 25th Amendment.

The Washington Post reports that David Petraeus at least implicitly endorsed this premise during a question and answer session last week at the Aspen Institute’s leftist summer gabfest in Colorado.

President Trump would be entitled to regard such behavior as not just offensive, but disloyal. After all, he has relied heavily – some would say unduly – on advice from the disgraced former general in staffing his administration. In fact, Petraeus’ awkward deflections about the President’s fitness contrasted sharply with his enthusiastic endorsement of the “national security team” he helped place in the Trump administration.

It’s time to reassess David Petraeus’ fitness as an advisor on policy and personnel.
