Communism, Then and Now, is a Menace to the Free World

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

President Trump is currently visiting Communist China, hosted by a counterpart, Xi Jinping, who reveres and seeks to emulate his most ruthless predecessor, Mao Tse Tung.  Mr. Trump will soon visit another communist nation, Vietnam.  And, throughout his travels, he’s wrestling with the growing threat posed by a third such country, North Korea.

As it happens, the President’s travels coincide with the 100th anniversary of the Bolshevik revolution in Russia – the first place to be subjected to the horrors of Communism. By some estimates over 100 million people have been murdered by the practitioners of this totalitarian ideology in the course of the intervening century.

This history compels the Free World never to forget that governments that treat their own people so badly are unlikely to treat ours better.  It would be a potentially catastrophic strategic error to believe otherwise.
