By January 12th, President Trump will either affirm his support for the people of Iran and his opposition to the regime that represses them and threatens us – the very antithesis of Barack Obama’s policy. Or he will effectively join Obama in propping up the mullahocracy by further waiving sanctions against it.

The choice would seem to be a no-brainer. After all, Donald Trump has already established that the Obamabomb agreement that the previous administration claimed justified a suspension of crippling sanctions is the worst agreement ever negotiated.  It’s also being violated by the Iranians.

Yet, some of Mr. Trump’s subordinates claim the deal can be “fixed” – as long as we keep working with the mullahs. But that means continuing to legitimate and economically aid them.  Which would amount to Obama 2.0, not Trumpian solidarity with our natural allies – the Iranian people.
