Several bad immigration initiatives bit the dust yesterday in the United States Senate.  None mustered the 60 votes required to be formally considered, including one mirroring three modest reforms President Trump sought in his State of the Union address in exchange for an amnesty for at least 1.8 million so-called “DACA kids.”

Late last night, Mr. Trump issued a statement placing the blame for this legislative debacle squarely on the “Schumer Democrats [who]  are held hostage by the radical left in their party, which opposes any immigration control at all.”

The President called on the House now to take up Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte’s bill containing extensive reforms – including real border security and E-Verify to discourage employment of illegal aliens — that the Trump administration correctly said last year were required.  That’s the platform to take to the voters this fall.
