The Iran Deal Deception

Obama adviser Ben Rhodes recently admitted deceiving congress and the press about Obama’s controversial Iran Nuclear Deal.

Frank Gaffney took up the issue on Secure Freedom Radio with Fred Fleitz, the Senior Vice President for Policy and Programs at the Center for Security Policy.

Gaffney asked Fleitz for his analysis of the situation. Fleitz was direct in his response:

“I have three observations on it. First of all, it confirms something we already know, that the Obama administration repeatedly lied to the American people to sell a nuclear deal with Iran, specifically by creating this fiction that there was a new moderate government that presented a rare opportunity to negotiate and split the regime between the hard liners and the moderates, when you and I know that Rouhani was put on a slate of candidates by Supreme Leader Khamenei who led the  country before he was elected in 2013 and still does. The second point is that the media was manipulated. According to this, these journalists just basically took whatever they were fed by the White House. I don’t completely agree with that, I think a lot of these journalists knew very well what they were promoting was false but they pushed it anyway. And the third point is that, and I find this really incredible, according to Samuels, he spoke to numerous officials in Washington and he said that Ben Rhodes is the most influential foreign policy maker in the United States besides Barack Obama, and that this man was running our foreign policy. We had secretaries of defense and state coming to the NSC, presenting their ideas to the NSC staff without being allowed to talk to the president and that these staffers were representing the president’s views, apparently without speaking to him.”

Gaffney noted that it has also come to light that three of Obama’s secretaries of defense have since made their frustrations with this process public. He also called it what it is – a national security fraud on the congress.

Fleitz agreed:

“Well this was national security fraud and it continues to be, the administration created these false narratives about the moderate regime in Iran, the concessions they made about Uranium enrichment which they said were harmless and various other issues. They lined up experts to perpetuate these false statements and they had a willing media that continued to push it and I think the Iranians just must have been thrilled to see that they have allies in the United States that were prepared to back these concessions and basically back anything the Iranian government wanted.”

Gaffney pointed out that as a result of the deal, Russia has delivered the S-300 air defense system to Iran, a development which complicates things not only for the United States but also for Israel.

Fleitz then asked the $64,000 question:

“The question is that if Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful, they agreed to this deal under which they’re not going to be pursuing nuclear weapons at least for ten years, why do they need this system?”

Why, indeed?

The Big Snub – Obama and the Saudi King

Frank Gaffney spoke with Fred Fleitz on Secure Freedom Radio Friday. Fleitz is the Vice President for Policy and Programs at the Center for Security Policy and a former CIA analyst.

They discussed Obama’s recent trip to Saudi Arabia and the fact that King Salman didn’t show up to greet Obama at the airport. The snub had symbolic meaning which Fleitz attributes to a combination of things:

“The president was coming to Saudi Arabia just after he made some outrageous comments in an Atlantic article that ran this month that Saudi Arabia has to share the neighborhood with Iran and should establish a cold peace with Iran. He also faults it, Gulf States and the Europeans for freeloading on the situation in Libya and not having skin in the game. They already don’t like Obama because of the terrible Iran Deal but I think they were extremely offended at this.”

Fleitz notes that Saudi Arabia is a difficult country for the U.S. to be friends with. A nation that chops off hands for minor offensives seems totally backwards to us but he also points out that if their current government were to fall it would probably be replaced by something much worse.

Frank asked Fleitz to expand on the Atlantic magazine article.

“It’s a fascinating article and if you read through it you see every evidence of a self-absorbed president who is deluding himself into thinking his foreign policy has been a success and you see multiple instances of some of the radicalism and anti-American positions he holds. He really believes that America’s presence around the world is driving instability.”

Finally, Gaffney mentioned that Obama is also visiting the UK at the same time that they are debating whether or not to exit the EU. He asked Fleitz for his opinion, which was direct:

“If the UK pulls out of the EU, it will be a good thing for the UK and the United States.”

The Iran Deal Gets Worse All The Time

One topic of discussion on Secure Freedom Radio yesterday was the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action or the “Iran Deal” as it’s better known.

Guest host Jim Hanson spoke with Fred Fleitz, the Vice President for Policy and Programs at the Center for Security Policy, a former CIA analyst.

What many Americans probably don’t know is that the Iran Deal merely “calls on” Iran not to test missiles. All the ingredients for a nuclear weapons program are there. Fleitz commented:

“The issue everyone’s been talking about lately is Iran’s missile program. Most experts believe ballistic missiles are a nuclear weapons delivery system, that a nuclear weapons program has three legs, making nuclear fuel, making the warhead, and the delivery system. Iran is the only nation in history to have ballistic missiles with a range of 2,000 kilometers or more without having nuclear weapons but missiles were left out of the agreement due to Iran’s insistence.”

Fleitz points out that the weak language in the agreement makes not testing missiles a mere suggestion.

Hanson then turned the conversation to Putin’s recent actions in Syria, saying somewhat reluctantly that Putin has achieved an important objective:

“The bottom line is, if we took a page from his playbook, we could have done a lot of things to knock ISIS out of contention and stabilize that region.”

Hanson asked Fleitz if there’s any chance Obama will use this to America’s advantage. Fleitz responded:

“This administration isn’t going to do anything significant on the foreign policy front before the president leaves office. He’s going to sit back, wait for this nuclear deal to go through and hand the mess in Syria and Iraq to the next president.”

Finally, they discussed the possibility of Iran testing a space launch vehicle just as North Korea did recently. The point of developing such technology is obvious, according to Fleitz:

“Critics of conservatives like myself say, well this rocket can’t carry a nuclear warhead so it’s not an ICBM test – yes it is, because it is the test to develop the capability to fire a multi-stage rocket, the purpose of which is to carry an ICBM against the United States or Europe.”

It’s almost like Obama and John Kerry negotiated the Iran Deal against the interests of America and her allies. Almost.
